Remembering & honouring Dorothy Quin

Dorothy was born in Glasgow on September 5th 1932, the second daughter of Alexander Craig Wallace and May (nee Currie) Wallace. She was the loved and deeply respected mother of three sons: Gary, the late Grant (died 1983) and Mark. Her late sisters were Joyce in Canada and Wendy in England. Many will recall her from her beautiful shop in St. Andrews, Dorothy Quin Interiors; her work for Prison Fellowship and for the Bosnia Appeal; her love of books and various scholarly studies. She lived in diverse places over the years: Cathcart, Ontario, Carmunnock, Drymen, St. Andrews, Balloch, Soeul (Korea), Whithorn and Ayrshire. Dorothy was laid to rest with great dignity, after a beautiful service in Holy Trinity Church, in St. Andrews Western Cemetery beside her beloved son Grant, in the third week of January 2015. She was deeply concerned with her search for God and this was honoured at her funeral with readings and music including Be Still My Soul* and the Taizé song Bless The Lord My Soul** to which her coffin left the kirk. She will be profoundly missed and her teachings and kindnesses treasured by the many who knew her.
